5 Ways to Defeat Dry Skin

Having a rough time adjusting to the cooler season? I usually have extremely oily skin, but for some reason this year I find myself having a couple of dry patches. I decided to do a little research on how to get rid of the nuisance dry skin and here are my top 5 solutions:

1. Lotion Up!

It seems obvious, but sometimes we’re in a rush and lotion gets place on the back burner. Don’t leave lotion out of the picture though! The key to lotion is to get one that actually quenches the skin not one that smells good and sits on top of it. Vaseline has a wide selection of lotions and my favorite is the Coco Butter, it is an intensive thirst quencher for dry skin.

2. Peel Back

Face peels and exfoliates are great for getting rid of dead skin, but using too many could have the opposite effect. Try to avoid alcohol-based products and after each peel or exfoliate be sure to hydrate your face with a deep moisturizer.

3. Humidifier

Humidifiers are life changing and life savers. This duhickey conveniently adds moisture to the air which returns that moisture back to your skin. This item should be on everyone’s wish list for the fall and winter season, because as temperature’s drop the air gets increasingly dry.

4. Sunscreen

I know you’re thinking it’s not summer time anymore, sunscreen should be packed up by now, but that’s def not true! The sun is working all year long and by wearing sunscreen year-round you’ll see your dry skin start to disappear.

5. Drink Water

I feel like I can’t say this enough, but water, water and more water. Drinking water hydrates your body from the inside out, which is much better for these dryer seasons. As you should be drinking water, you should also be scaling back on hot baths. Keep your showers cool to maintain hydration in your skin!!
