Interview with style expert Tai Beauchamp

Tai Beauchamp knows about maintaining a flawless appearance as a style and lifestyle expert, TV personality and brand ambassador. Beauchamp is more than a pretty face, she is a Spelman grad, veteran journalist and editor and all around media maven.

Talking Pretty  sat down with Beauchamp to discuss career, fashion and, of course, beauty tips!

Go-to  outfit for an unexpected event?

A great LBD. A black top and black pants. Tailoring is key. Anything with a great fit will make you look and feel good.

What products do you use for a five-minute makeover?

For concealer I’m completely obsessed with Black Opal, make sure you fill in your eyebrows, CoverGirl Mascara, and a bold red lip. Regardless of complexion, everyone is a few shades lighter in the winter. To save on purchasing several foundations, I mix my foundation with a good face moisturizer to create an even finish.

Products to tame the frizz?

The video has tons of great tips on fighting the frizz! One of the products I love from Target is the Mixed Chicks Leave-in conditioner, it doesn’t weigh hair down.

Favorite flavor cookie?

Chocolate chip or red velvet

What/how did you determine your career path?

I started out as a biology major at Spelman College and didn’t like being in a lab coat. I sat down with a mentor, changed my major to English to become a fashion writer. I discovered my passion was  people.  [My career] has been an evolution of empowering women through style. Finding your path is about listening and understanding your calling and combining that with skillset and talent

Who do you consider your peers in you field and a few that are great examples you can get support and best practices?

I love Mary Ellis Stevenson. I admire Heidi Klum, Oprah,  Bevy Smith and June Ambrose. I look to so many different people for different reasons.  I find inspiration when I look to people and recognize their talents.
