The Chec-Mate Application: A New App to Check Your HIV Status

It is so important to take control of your sexual health. That also goes for using protection during sexual encounters, another key element in staying healthy is knowing your status.

While most people probably schedule their STI (sexually transmitted infections) tests with their primary doctor, some are too shy to broach the subject with their physician, and others may not have health coverage at all. But a new app by STFree Certifications Inc. makes finding a testing location, getting your results, and sharing them with your partner extremely simple.

Eli Dancy, creator of the Chec-Mate app, says it is “a one-of-a-kind prevention tool based on effective prevention strategies that not only engages its users but also empowers, activates and positively impacts their lives.”

According to the Root, the Chec-Mate app is provides potential partners with more accurate information than paper results, which are susceptible to fraud, and it’s also more secure. The application complies with HIPAA laws, and allows patients to control who sees their information.

With African Americans disproportionally affected by HIV and other STI’s, the Chec-Mate app could be a powerful tool in keeping us safe.
