5 Reasons Azealia Banks Should Stay Away From Hip Hop

Azealia Banks has had a lot of monumental things happen in her musical career in just a matter of months.  Though she has graced many awesome stages that many underground artists dream about, her mouth and presence just seems to keep causing a scene in the hip hop community.

Twitter seems to be Azealia’s main tool for destruction.  She has had twitter beef with everyone from Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj, and most recently, Jim Jones.  What’s amusing about this situation is that half of these celebrities shouldn’t even cross Azealia’s path.  As I think back on her altercations, and then think about her most successful platform, it’s obvious that if Azealia Banks wants to expand on her success, she needs to steer clear from those in the hip hop community.

Take a look at talkingpretty’s reasons on why the eclectic and original Azealia Banks should avoid the hip hop scene..

1. Her fan base is the fashion scene

It’s not hard to realize that Azealia Banks isn’t your ordinary rapper.  Catching the attention of designers like Alexander Wang, and being introduced to the media through celebrities like Gwentyh Paltrow and Kanye West, it’s obvious that Banks is in a lane of her own.  Her music is made for vogueing at a Betsey Johnson’s after party, or strutting down the runway during fashion week, not those who ‘Beez in the trap’.

2.  She can’t hold her tongue.

A lot of women have gotten by sitting back while the man takes the lead.  Most, if not all female rappers who have hit mainstream have had a man that co-signed their swag.  Azealia has not. Instead of hiding behind a powerful publicist, or letting her sidekick/boytoy do her dirty work, she has approached people on a platform for all to see, the most popular social networking tool in the African American community, Twitter.  She speaks her mind, and even lets us in on some inside dirt with no apologies.

3. She’s burned a lot of bridges that she hasn’t crossed yet.

Since her first run-in with trouble during Iggy Azalea’s first moment of shine, a lot of industry insiders have been skeptical of her as a person, though they believe in her music.  Everyone knows the music industry is all about relationships so the fact that banks has burned a couple bridges, even with people she hasn’t even met, leaves her in a vulnerable position when it comes to the movers and shakers in the hip hop scene.

4. The beef will take precedence over her music.

You’d have no idea that Azealia Banks released a good amount of music and a few videos since she was spotted at Coachella if you only payed attention to buzz. If you’re not prone to keeping tabs on the music industry you would assume that this girl is purely here for drama, and that is definitely not a good look.

5.  She raps over dance tracks.

Try to compare her if you want, but how many rappers are choosing pure dance tracks to showcase their talent?  If it’s not a raw hip hop beat, most artists are not experimenting with pop tracks with a dubstep feel. You know, the ‘Nicki Minaj/Rihanna’ sound. Whether it’s her music, her flow, or her NYC flavored content, she doesn’t touch down in anyone else’s lane.  Her look and concepts aren’t bitten from a past rapper that didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the almighty internet.

What do you guys think about Azealia Banks?  Have you been emotionally scarred by all of the drama surrounding her, or are you more intrigued by her music?
