Dr. Felicia Wade, Screenwriter

Dr. Felicia Wade is proving to young beautiful women that you can have a professional career and still pursue your dreams of being in the entertainment field.  Often times, I feel us as young women sell ourselves short by making premature decisions about our lives.  Some of us are too busy trying to be famous instead of being successful.

Full name: Felicia Wade, M.D.

Current project: Writer, Studio 11 Films’ Rhythm, an 11 Eleven 11 Project

What drew you to this project?
As a health professional, I wanted to reach people through film to get their attention and put their attention on the heart of the matter, which is their health. I have had an opportunity to work with incredible people such as Mel Jackson, Sharon Tomlinson, Deborah Champagne, Carl Payne, etc.

Where you were born/where you were raised?
I was born Washington, D.C. and raised in suburban Mitchellville, Md.

Zodiac Sign: Capricorn

What do you hope viewers walk away with after seeing Rhythm
I am hoping that people will walk away from Rhythm wanting to understand medicine from both sides. So much has changed. I want people to dialogue with their doctor to get to the best medicine.

Who are your personal idols in the film industry?
I admire Steven Spielberg, David Fincher and James Cameron.

Pop culture guilty pleasures: Books, iPhone, lipstick.

What’s on your music playlist? Maxwell, Jill Scott, Beyoncé ,Taylor Swift, Yanni

Mac or PC? iPad!

Tell us about some of your previous work?
I’ve written two nonfiction books . One about pediatric obesity, a book that the First Lady, Michelle Obama, has in her possession. The other is on Amazon.com and is entitled The Heart of the Matter. It’s about obesity.

I was actually pre-med, but being a filmmaker brings me more joy and fulfillment than any job I have ever had or could have ever had. It’s like winning the lottery over and over.

Three things you can’t live without: God, the universe, and my daughter Mandy

I’ll never understand why … People don’t realize that the universe brings you everything that you need.

Favorite screen or commercial opportunities: To have a talk show about health — I have been on CNN five times.
