Oprah Is the Only American Female on ‘Forbe’s’ Black Billionaires 2012 List

Oprah Winfrey being on the Forbe’s list is pretty much a no-brainer. Despite the public turmoil she’s enduring by quitting her daytime talk show to launch her own cable station, OWN, Winfrey is nestled comfortably in the billion-dollar club.

The economy and questionable business decisions robbed America of previous billionaires, such as former husband and wife team, Robert “Bob” Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television and Sheila Johnson.

Out of the 1,226 people who made the list of the world’s billionaires, only six are black — and only one is an American: Oprah. The majority of the blacks on this list are, not surprisingly, from the Motherland.

Check out the other of the world’s black billionaires:

Mohammed Al-Amoudi, Saudi Arabia, $12.5 billion.

Aliko Dangote, Nigeria, $11.2 billion.

Mike Adenuga, Nigeria, $4.3 billion.

Patrice Motsepe, South Africa, South Africa, $2.7 billion.

Mo Ibrahim, United Kingdom, $1.1 billion.
