Ready for “Sparkle”? Meet the Star-Studded Cast

We’re just one week away from the world premiere of the classic re-make of Sparkle. If you love musicals, you’re sure to enjoy this.  The film follows three sisters from an affluent Detroit area who are on their journey to making musical history in the Motown-era. Marking the acting debut of American Idol, Jordin Sparks and the last film made by Whitney Houston, Sparkle is a must see, not to mention the fashion is the film is super hot! Jordin Sparks, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter, of course, play the William sisters and under their mother’s guidance, Whitney Houston, the choir singers each struggle to find their light and place in the music business.  Let’s meet the cast of this star-studded film.

Jordin Sparks, 2006 American Idol, is making her Hollywood debut as ‘Sparkle’, the main character loosely based on Dianna Ross in the Supremes.

Carmen Ejogo, takes the rap for the bad girl in this film playing Sister Williams.

Tika Sumpter plays Delores Williams, who loves to sing no doubt, but she has bigger dreams than being in the limelight.

Whitney Houston plays the mother, Emma, of the three girls who struggle to get their music career off the ground. Giving as much love and support as she can, her main concern is keeping her girls safe from the cruelty of the world.

Derek Luke is a close friend of the family, Stix, who also happens to be Sparkle’s love interest.

The cast doesn’t stop there though this film also features Mike Epps, Cee Lo Green, Tamela Mann and Omari Hardwick all looking 60′s chic. Be sure to check out this film in theaters August 17, 2012!
