Talking Pretty Reviews Mixed Chicks ‘No Frizz Trio’

Mixed Chick No Frizz Trio

Mixed Chicks hair care products are well known amongst those with natural and bi-racial hair. The mission of the Mixed Chicks brands has been to create a product line that will moisturize, control frizz, and define curls, without a sticky mess.

I tested out the Mixed Chicks “No Frizz Trio” which included shampoo, deep conditioner, and leave-in conditioner as a three step process. According to the Mixed Chicks website, the “No Frizz Trio” should be used to clarify, define, and detangle curly hair, and end frizzy hair all day long. I will admit that I was skeptical of using this product line initially simply assuming that by the name “Mixed Chicks,” it wouldn’t cater to my hair type or texture. But I’ve been an avid user of their leave-in conditioner and was sent some products and decided to give it a try.

Taking proper care of my hair in its natural state, I look for products that will keep my hair moisturized without weighing it down, products that don’t leave behind any residue that will make my curls hard and stiff, and products that limit frizz while still giving my curls definition and life. Here’s my review of the Mixed Chicks “No Frizz Trio”:

Gentle Clarifying Shampoo

The shampoo left my hair soft even after rinsing it out. I’ve tried many products that seem to strip my strands of moisture after rinsing, resulting in a “too squeaky clean” texture if you will. But this shampoo was a great segway into using the deep conditioner.

Detangling Deep Conditioner

After washing my hair, I applied a generous amount of detangling deep conditioner, and combed it thoroughly through my strands. I left it in for about five minutes and then rinsed it out really good. Product residue left in your hair after washing can affect the look of your curls.

Leave-in Conditioner

I’ve been using the Mixed Chicks leave-in conditioner for a while, but sans the shampoo and deep conditioner that should go along with it. I will say that after doing the entire three step process, I saw and felt a difference in the way the leave-in conditioner worked with the rest of the system. After towel drying and applying a generous amount of leave-in conditioner, I two strand twisted my hair and let it air dry over night.

The next morning I gently untwisted my two strand twist and my curls just bounced right into their place. There is a nice healthy shine, and no residue left on my fingers after playing in my hair. Did I mention my hair smells amazing? Overall I am very satisfied with the way the “No Frizz Trio” made my hair feel and look. It’s light and fluffy with little frizz … I will really be able to put it to the test once the humidity hits.

The Mixed Chicks “No Frizz Trio” retails at $39.99 and gets two thumbs up from Talking Pretty.
