Tami Roman Talks Sexual Assault: 4 Other Stars Who’ve Been Assaulted

Last week, Tami Roman shocked fans when she revealed on “Basketball Wives” that she had been raped twice. In her latest interview, Roman reveals why she decided to share her sexual assault with the world.

“What I wanted to do was accomplished. I wanted to let others out there know, ‘You’re not the only one,’ ” Roman said to NecoleBitchie.com. “I want to use my life as a testimony. I’ve been homeless, on food stamps; I’ve always been very open. I’ve dealt with bulimia, weight issues … I’ve been through a lot and this is just one more thing.”

As fans of the show know, Roman recently began consulting a therapist to deal with her emotional trauma and anger. And she says that her altercations with her cast mates, specifically Meeka Claxton, are what prompted her to seek help.

“I looked at season two and realized I had that altercation with Meeka [Claxton] because I have issues with someone violating my personal space. And that comes from the violence in my past. It makes me overly defensive. Literally I wake up every single day with somebody saying something hateful to me. That’s a hard burden to have to deal with. I’m just walking around like ‘don’t f–k with me.’ And in certain situations that’s not the proper attitude to have. So I knew I needed to get help to learn how to recover and move on.”

We commend Roman for speaking up about an issue that is still taboo in society, and hopefully, her therapy pays off. Below you can check out a list of other stars who have also been sexually assaulted. –nicholas robinson

During her 2010 “Behind The Music” special, Fantasia spoke in detail about the incident and how it affected her. Unfortunately, Fantasia’s father publicly commented that Fantasia brought the rape upon herself because of her revealing clothes.
