Erykah Badu named new face of Givenchy Spring 2014 collection

Musician, doula and face of Givenchy. Singer Erykah Badu has been selected to be the face of the Givenchy Spring 2014 line.

Designer and creative Director Riccardo Tisci made the announcement via Instagram today, posting a picture of Badu with the message “Welcome to the gang” which was well received by his followers.

Following the announcement post Tisci posted the photo above wearing a piece from the Givenchy Spring 2014 collection.

Tisci proclaimed his admiration for the neo=soul singer, “She’s one of the most stylish women I’ve met in my life,” he said. “She’s got such a good sense of proportion, of colors.”

Tisci who was recently pictured with baby North West is not shy about adding color to the runways.

 “… I was one of the persons who ended up not being touched by this. I discovered Joan Smalls, I discovered Maria [Borges]. I discovered a lot of black girls, and I’ve been always supporting them. For me, I grew up in a family and I grew up in a culture, an education, that we all are the same.”
