Fashion Role Models: Michelle Obama in Tracy Reese

Michelle Obama wow’ed the world with her pink and blue brocade Tracy Reese dress, as she took the stage last night  at the Democratic National Convention.  Though the First Lady always shows up fashionable forward, we’re so excited to see her is one of our favorite designers!

talkingpretty has been watching Tracy Reese since our trip to NYC Fashion Week for Spring 2012, and from the looks of things, Tracy Reese is still on a roll.

Who is Tracy Reese?

Tracy Reese is a Detroit native, and one of the top African American designers in the fashion industry.  Beginning her studies at Parsons School of Design, Reese sculpted her talents at companies such as Arlequin and Perry Ellis, before launching her own fashion collections 4 years later.  Tracy Resse showed her knack for mixing femininity, modernity, and luxury.  Branching off from her successful clothing ventures, Tracy has added footwear, candles, and a home collection to her capsule.  In 2007 Reese was inducted as a board member of the CFDA, and clearly, as we speak, continues to make history, and pave the way for young and talented African American designers.
