Tavi Gevinson Talks “Pretty” ,Tours Her Room, and Talks About Her Style

“People at school didn’t get it, but I think I was lucky because I was part of this community online where people encouraged and inspired each other. It was cool to be weird and challenging.”

Tavi made headlines at the young age of 12 by sitting front row at some of the hottest runway shows at fashion week. With her unique, fearless style, she proved to many young women that you don’t have to be “in” to know fashion.

StyleLikeU caught up with the now 15 year old Founder of Rookie Mag and allowed her to open up about her evolution of style,  and the fearlessness of the  most stylish people you see parading around your city.

Although we’re not 15 anymore, and we’ve moved onto doing more than just sitting in our room dreaming, sometimes we have to look at ourselves as just people.  We’re all capable of expression and love, so it goes without saying that we can all be fashionistas and embrace fashion without sitting front row at fashion week or rocking thousands of dollars of jewelry.

“I think this whole thing about branding yourself is so silly. I’ve looked different at every fashion week, and I don’t really have a distinct style. I guess it’s not great for my ‘personal brand,’ but who cares. That would be so boring.”
