Kim Kardashian has been watched like a hawk even before there was a baby to discuss, but recently, there isn’t a moment that goes by that the paps aren’t wondering what Kim is doing.  After Kanye and Kim’s pregnancy announcement, it seemed as if Kim was trying to get used to her new body, as she stuck to all black leggings, tops, and athletic shoes. While the mother-to-be decided to branch back into her fashionable closet, Kim made a few mistakes early on with fits, but it looks as if she’s starting to learn what works for her growing belly.

While her baby bump was still small, Kim Kardashian strutted around in one of our favorite trends, the tube skirt; but as she grows we’ve seen the dynamic of the skirt change.  Kim is back to letting a little more leg show, as her skirts have more volume than length.  When Kim’s not rocking skirts, she’s going for a more suited look with tailored trousers and what we can assume are reconstructed leather pants.

While we’re not all the way through the season or Kim’s pregnancy, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite Kim Kardashian pregnancy looks thus far!  With a big season of celebrity pregnancies, do you think Kim will still be able to hold onto her ‘most fashionable’ title?

We stopped by Vanity Hair Studio NYC in Brooklyn  to get some tips for hair care in New York City.  We spoke with Natasha Watterson, Ms. Watterson is the owner and operator of Vanity, the only private salon in New York City.   Here are a few of  the tips she gave:

What is the easiest hairstyle to maintain?

A hairstyle you are most familiar with. Even the most complicated hairstyles can be managed effortlessly if you a have a routine.

What products line do you use in your Hair Studio?

Initially I used Design Essentials and OnxNatural.  After conducting some research I decided to invest in the Aveda line. The products are light and healthy for the hair.

Which Aveda Product do you suggest for hair that has been damaged?

Aveda has a “Damage Remedy” line that is really effective. I would recommend the Restructuring Shampoo,Conditioner and Treatment.

Which part of the Hair gets neglected the most?

The ends. Women are sometimes dismissive about their hair ends being split or damaged because their hair continues to grow. On average your hair grows a half an inch per month. If you cut that much hair every month for three months, you will notice the difference in hair quality. And of course more importantly, the ends should be clipped with sharp hair scissors. Dull shears can split the hair end to root.

What do you suggest for Spring and Summer in NYC?

For natural hair, I’ve always been a fan of the double strand twists. This style is not compromised in humid environments and extreme heat.  For relaxed hair I would suggest a permanent wave rod set. This gives the hair a full and bouncy curl perfect for the spring and summer seasons.

Sofia Vergara, the spicy Latin brunette actress, is no longer that! She’s a blonde!

The Columbian actress debuted her new look in a recent Twitter picture, and since then, she’s even shared with us a few throw back modeling pictures, where her hair was blonde before.  Did you know she was a natural blonde?

“When I started acting, I would go to auditions and they didn’t know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent — but I had blonde hair,” Vergara told Self magazine back in 2010. “It was ignorance: They thought every Latin person looks like Salma Hayek. The moment I dyed my hair dark, it was, ‘Oh, she’s the hot Latin girl.’ I loved it. I’d always felt a little ‘too much’ as a blonde, like a big-mouth version of Pamela Anderson. Being brunette toned me down a bit.”

Celebrities have always had an affinity for switching their look up with blonde hair, and whether it’s been proven true that blondes have more fun, some of our favorite celebrities have been living the life in their new blonde tresses.  Before Spring actually emerged, we spotted a lot of short blondes at the Bronner Bros. hair show, and currently, Nicki Minaj toned down her look and went for a blonde weave.  Dark roots with platinum blonde ends has been the “it” style for rocking blonde hair.  Do you think you could pull it off?

The tourmaline flat irons pose even less risk to hair than ceramic flat irons. Tourmaline is actually a semi-precious stone that is crushed and molded in the plates of a hair iron. The tourmaline also has one other important function. It  creates more negative ions in comparison to ceramic plates. These negative ions help reduce the effect of the positive charge that is usually found on dry or frizzy hair. Tourmaline helps remove excess water in the hair and ultimately balances the moisture. This is great for ladies who want their flat irons help in reducing frizz and also making hair straighter, smoother and lustrous.

Ceramic flat irons are great for reducing hair damage but tourmaline-based flat irons reduce frizz and make hair comparatively shinier.

This one is a one-swipe lipstick that delivers long lasting, opaque color that won’t budge for hours. We found it a lot less drying than other long lasting lipsticks. Also, it’s less fidgety too since you won’t need to apply two coats, one color and one gloss, to activate the kiss-proof quality.

CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor
You get a dual-ended wand, with gloss at one end and a moisturizing topcoat at the other end. It promises a whopping 16 hours of color. There is shade for everyone among the 40 currently on offer. Try Ever Red-dy or Ruby Reflection for a head-turning pout all day long.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick
Available in two finishes, i.e. satin lasting crème and lustrous lasting shimmer, your lips will thank you for wearing these. One application lasts the whole day and remember what we said about long lasting lipsticks being dry? That is totally not applicable here.

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick
This one promises 14 hours of color that looks freshly applied, without the yucky dry flakes. And it delivers! This one will go from the boardroom to the bedroom, it packs a lot of punch and is only for serious lipstick lovers. This one will not quit and you may just have to remove it with wipes at the end of the day. Don’t say we didn’t warn ya’.

This is the year of the bare-naked eye

Don’t worry. You don’t have to get over mascara just yet. Even though the fresh, mascara-free look is all over the spring runway, many prominent fashion houses still used plenty of mascara and false lashes to give their models the glam factor during their runway shows.

All in all, this year is all about experimenting with your eyelashes. From Gaultier’s fringy eyes to Gucci’s ‘Ganza’ lashes, runways have been adventurous with beauty looks. Here is the look on the season’s top trends for eyelashes.

Tons and Tons of Lashes: Gucci and Moschino showcased looks that used lots of mascara on structured lashes. The end result was smoky, smoldering “come hither” eyes. Also, highlights were used liberally all over the face to make the eyes prominent.

Natural Does It: Mascara-free lashes were spotted on Prada, Alexandra Wang and Carolina Herrera runways. The make-up artists suggest curling your eye lashes and following up with clear mascara to get a look that is refreshingly clean and chic.

Lined Lashes: For a rock-chic look, create a fine line as close to the eye lashes as possible. Use a gel liner for precise application and you will not miss the heavy fringes. Top off the no-mascara look with bright, red lips.

Lash Extensions: If you love heavy, glamorous lashes, but find that adding/removing artificial ones is too cumbersome, then you will love the new lash trend. Lash extensions are quickly catching on and can give you eyelashes that last for weeks. Find a good eyelash professional and ask them to give you all the lashes you want, from doll-eyed, doe-eyed looks to full on Kim Kardashian glam-lashes.

Bling Bling Eyes: Christian Dior models rocked some accessorized eyes on the runway. Lined with Swarovski crystals, their eye lashes were real headturners. Break out your fake lashes,and glue some crystals on top to get a similar look. At the Chanel show, models’ eyes were covered in sequins, feathers, crystals and organza or tulle.

Nicole Garner of the Garner Circle and her team brought in some amazing speakers this past weekend at the Power Plug PR Conference at Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta. Talkingpretty.com and our lucky winner (Yay Europe!) had a chance to listen in as aspiring publicists and PRs drew in information and shelled out plenty of laughs at the intimate, yet powerful conference.

Attendees had a chance to meet and greet with the major players in the media, PR, and social media fields, while getting their insight on what moves to make once class is over.

One major thing that we learned at Power Plug PR is that getting into the industry, especially building your own company in such a wide space, is never going to be easy. You will have to spend a lot of money, time, and effort to position yourself as a respected player in the game. Public Relations is not for the weak minded or the faint of heart. You will have to deal with people you don’t like, and you might have to compromise your creative vision for the bigger picture. You have to be sharp, quick, and ready for change. Everything won’t be perfect, but in the end, it’s all worth it.
