Co-founder of Miss Jessie’s, Titi Branch, has died. According to NV Magazine, the natural hair enthusiast passed away on Dec. 4, 2014, in an apparent suicide due to asphyxia.

Branch, who launched her Brooklyn, New York, hair salon alongside her sister Miko in 1997, had a passion for black hair care and for their clients who had a burning desire to transition from relaxed to natural hair. They introduced their homemade hair care products, Miss Jessie’s in 2004, before making it big with product placement in local salons and Target.

Branch June 10, 1969, Titi Cree Branch, will forever be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
