Nicki Minaj lands her first high fashion campaign as the face of Roberto Cavalli.
Days following the release of her third studio album, The Pinkprint, Minaj reveals that she’s been dubbed the new face of Roberto Cavalli.
In the ad pictorial, shot by Italian photographer Francesco Carrozzini, Young Money’s resident Barbie rocks a jet-black bouffant and a variety of bold, flowy print gowns. Quite the make-under for the once over-the-top superstar.
In addition to her fashion spread, Minaj will endorse Roberto Cavalli’s eyewear, accessory and ready-to-wear lines.
In a recent statement to Forbes, Cavalli praised the Barb’s famous figure as inspiration for his latest campaign.
“I chose Nicki Minaj because she embodies the exuberant and modern femininity of the Cavalli woman. In recent years we have become accustomed to women castigated in clothes that hide their body shapes. With this campaign, I wanted to send a strong countertrend message. I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body — who is not afraid to show her curves. Instead, she makes them her strength.”
