Janelle Monáe receives ‘Rising Star’ award at Billboard’s Women in Music event

A well deserved round of applause for the Midwest crooner with a signature style and a show stopping voice. Janelle Monáe might be pint sized but her career is nothing but. Monáe has a large and loyal fan base that includes many of the “who’s who” in music and journalism. Singer P!nk and Atlantic Records music Exec, Julie Greenwald were also honored at the event sponsored by Target, Nikon and CoverGirl.

Janelle Monáe is also included this quote in her acceptance speech in last nights event “One of the things the President said today about Nelson Mandela was, ‘Don’t ever underestimate the power of one man. So don’t ever underestimate the power of one woman.”

Janelle’s album “Electric Lady” was part of the Top Ten Billboard 200.
