And the winner is … Lupita Nyong’o

Beautiful, smart and talented, those are just three of the many envious traits Lupita Nyong’o carries. The “it girl” who has taken magazines and red carpets by storm has done it yet again. On Oscar night the dazzling woman took home the award for Best Supporting Actress. Stepping on that carpet in the diaphanous custom “Nairobi Blue” Prada gown, she became our princess, our “Lupitarella”

Nyong’o represents the innate spirit of brilliance, grace and terrifying talent within black women in Hollywood and throughout the diaspora. Her win for Best Supporting Actress was a triumph for all little brown girls and women.

At a recent luncheon for black women in Hollywood Lupita was quoted saying “What is fundamentally beautiful is compassion for yourself and for those around you. That kind of beauty enflames the heart and enchants the soul.” Nyong’o embodies every phoneme in the word “beautiful.”
