The 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards took place March 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and Taylor Swift arrived as the evening’s most nominated act with nine nominations. She left with seven wins, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, Best Lyrics, Best Music Video, and Favorite TikTok Dance, the latter three tied to her single ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ from her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl.
Beside her for the night was Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end she got engaged to in August 2025. The ceremony marked the first time the couple had attended an award show together, and the cameras found them often throughout the evening, dancing during performances hosted by Ludacris and sharing quiet moments between the bigger ones.
Swift wore a mint green velvet two-piece from Wiederhoeft’s fall winter 2026 collection. Kelce kept it understated in a brown leather jacket over a black button-up and matching trousers.
The ring flash that landed everywhere
The most-circulated moment of the night came during British singer Raye’s performance of her hit about a woman scanning a room for her partner. As the chorus landed, Swift turned to Kelce and held up her left hand, the Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond he presented during their engagement catching the light at exactly the right moment. The gesture was brief and clearly spontaneous, which is what made it travel so far by morning.
The two had been engaged since late August, when they announced the news on Instagram with a caption referencing Swift’s song “So High School.” The iHeartRadio ceremony was the first major industry event since the engagement where both appeared together publicly.
What she said from the stage
Swift accepted Pop Album of the Year with a speech that credited the record’s emotional tone directly to her relationship. She told the audience that The Life of a Showgirl was shaped by the energy she absorbed from crowds during the Eras Tour, but also that the happiness and confidence running through it came from something more personal. She pointed to Kelce, seated in the crowd, and thanked him for the feeling she described carrying into every day.
The album, released in October 2025, was recorded during the Eras Tour and includes multiple songs understood to reference Kelce. “The Fate of Ophelia,” which won three awards on the night, contains what fans have catalogued as layered references to the relationship. “Wood,” another track on the record, references his podcast by name.
Kelce’s role in the room
For most of the evening Kelce occupied the supporting position without apparent effort, counting along as Swift’s wins accumulated and reacting visibly to each one. Before she walked to the stage to accept Pop Album of the Year, she turned and kissed him, a moment that cameras caught and that circulated widely alongside the ring flash.
The couple’s relationship began in the summer of 2023 when Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. He had planned to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number but did not get the opportunity. He went public with his interest shortly after, and she appeared at a Chiefs game that September. The relationship became one of the most documented in recent sports and music history across the two and a half years that followed.
Their engagement in August 2025 came more than two years after that first game appearance. The iHeartRadio ceremony was the first formal industry event to follow it.
