From glazed giveaways to loyalty app perks, here is every deal worth claiming on National Donut Day 2026.
National Donut Day falls on the first Friday of June every year, and this year it lands on June 5. What started as a wartime tribute has spent nearly 90 years quietly becoming one of the most delicious unofficial holidays in America, and in 2026, the deals are better than ever.
The Salvation Army established the holiday in 1938 to honor a group of women known as the doughnut Lassies, volunteers who traveled to the front lines of World War I to offer soldiers freshly fried donuts, supplies, and emotional support. The doughnut, in that context, was not a snack. It was a symbol of comfort delivered under extraordinary circumstances.
This year marks the 88th anniversary of the holiday. The Salvation Army will distribute doughnuts to veterans in cities across the country and host the National Donut Day World Donut Eating Championship in Washington, D.C.
For everyone else, the celebration is simpler: show up, redeem the deal, and eat the doughnut.
Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme is offering one free doughnut of any variety to every guest on June 5, no purchase required. The offer is good in-store and at the drive-thru, with a limit of one per person. Customers who want more can pick up a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for $2 when they buy any dozen at regular price.
Dunkin’ donuts
For the 16th consecutive year, Dunkin’ is handing out a free donut with the purchase of any beverage. The chain is also deepening a partnership with lifestyle accessories brand Stoney Clover Lane, releasing a limited-edition collection of accessories inspired by Dunkin’ menu staples. The collection goes live online and at select retail locations on June 5 at 10 a.m. ET.
Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons is running its free donut offer through June 7. Customers who purchase a small, medium, or large beverage can redeem one free donut per day using the Tim Hortons app. The redemption window gives a little more breathing room than most one-day-only deals.

The Salvation Army’s connection to the day is a reminder that the donut earned its cultural status the hard way. But in 2026, the only requirement is downloading an app or walking through a door, and there is nothing wrong with that.
