Dunkin’ is giving away 1 million free hot or iced coffees today, Thursday, Sept. 24, and the only way in is a promo code the chain will post on its social media accounts around midday. Enter that code in the Offers & Rewards section of the Dunkin’ app, and a free coffee lands in your account. No purchase is required. Once claimed, the coffee can be redeemed anytime through Sunday, Sept. 27.
Speed is the whole game. Secret Chicago reports the code should go live around 11 a.m. Central, which is noon on the East Coast. Food influencer @snackolator warned her followers that codes like this one can disappear within 30 to 45 minutes. When a million people chase the same cup, the clock moves fast.
How do you get Dunkin’ free coffee today?
Start before the code drops. Download the Dunkin’ app and set up a Rewards account now, because the offer runs through the loyalty program. Then follow Dunkin’ on social media so the code reaches you the moment it posts. Once it is live, open the Offers & Rewards tab, type it in, and the reward is saved to your account.
There is no rush to get to a store after that. The hard part is claiming the code. The coffee itself can wait until the weekend.

Has Dunkin’ done a million cup giveaway before?
Yes, and fans remember how quickly it went. Dunkin‘ ran a similar million coffee drop for April Fools’ Day this year. Deal hunters on Slickdeals reported the code working within minutes of going live. The chain has turned this into a playbook, and each round rewards the people who show up early.
Is the National Coffee Day deal also free?
Not exactly, and that detail is easy to miss. On National Coffee Day, Tuesday, Sept. 29, Dunkin’ Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee, but only with another purchase through the app. Today’s coffee costs nothing. Tuesday’s comes with a receipt.
That still counts as a deal for anyone already grabbing breakfast, but it is not the same as the no-strings cup up for grabs today.
What is the Dunkin’ and L.L.Bean collaboration?
Two New England brands are teaming up for a full week of National Coffee Day perks. Dunkin’ Chief Marketing Officer Jill Nelson said the companies have been part of the same routines for decades, from the morning coffee run to weekends outdoors.
The collection includes three limited edition collectibles. There is a crewneck sweater, a new version of L.L.Bean’s classic Boat and Tote, and a holster built to carry a hot or iced coffee. Since Tuesday, Sept. 22, customers have also been able to get a Birdseye Sweater Cup Sleeve with any hot or iced coffee order, while supplies last. The brands are also taking a giveaway tour to parts of the East Coast.
Why do Dunkin’ free coffee drops matter so much right now?
Because the morning coffee run is no longer a small expense. When a daily medium adds up to real money over a month, a free cup is a small win people will set an alarm for. Dunkin’ knows that. Giveaways like this also push new customers into the app and the rewards program, where the chain can reach them again.
The code drops once. After that, it belongs to whoever is fastest.
