Subway, DoorDash and Habit Burger are stretching the celebration past Tuesday, but most of the best offers have already closed.
The candy wrappers from Halloween had barely hit the trash before the nation’s sandwich chains made their next move. National Sandwich Day landed on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and a long list of restaurants marked it with buy-one-get-one offers, cut-rate subs and outright giveaways. The good news for anyone who missed it is that several of those offers are still alive.
With holiday spending already squeezing household budgets, a free footlong or a $15 break on a delivery order is more than a novelty. Here is what remains available, what has already expired and how to avoid getting tripped up at checkout.
The deals still on the table
Subway is giving the holiday the longest runway. Members of its Sub Club loyalty program can get a free Footlong when they buy another one, and the offer is good through Nov. 8 on orders placed in the app or online.
Habit Burger has turned its promotion into a daily scavenger hunt that runs through Nov. 4. Every location is handing out 50 free Gotta Habit Meals each day during a surprise one-hour window. App members receive a heads-up two hours before the drop, while everyone else can watch the chain’s Instagram account for the daily timing.
Farmer Boys loyalty club members can order a Bacon Turkey Melt for $5.99 on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4, either inside the restaurant or through the chain’s app. Combo upgrades and third-party delivery orders do not qualify.
Pepsi and DoorDash teamed up on a two-day offer covering Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. A DoorDash cart totaling at least $25 that includes a Pepsi-Cola drink unlocks an instant $15 discount at checkout.
Quiznos is courting newcomers, offering $5 off a first mobile app order to people who join Quiznos Rewards around the holiday. Smoothie King took a lighter approach with a $9.99 bundle that pairs a Chicken Flatbread, in Chipotle, Ranch or Pesto, with a 20-ounce Fruit Classic smoothie. Availability can vary, so check the app before ordering.
The one-day steals that came and went
Most chains kept their promotions to the holiday itself. At 7-Eleven, 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members could add a $1 fountain drink or Big Gulp to any sandwich purchase. Big Buns knocked half off a second chicken sandwich with the code SAMMIEDAY, and Capriotti’s gave its CapAddicts Rewards members the same discount on subs of any size.
Firehouse Subs tossed a free medium sub into app and website orders of $15 or more. Jersey Mike’s waived delivery fees on app and website orders of at least $5. Jimmy John’s rewards members could redeem a single-use buy-one-get-one-free sandwich with the code SANDWICH, and Makers Union applied a menu-wide BOGO 50% deal to its burgers, sandwiches and handhelds.
Penn Station East Coast Subs handed out a free small sub with any regular purchase through the code NS26, while Potbelly offered a free Original-size sandwich or wrap with the purchase of a Big or Original using the code BOGO. McAlister’s Deli and Schlotzsky’s both sold $5 sandwiches to rewards members through Nov. 3. Schlotzsky’s allowed up to 10 discounted sandwiches in one transaction, while McAlister’s capped it at one per member.
Why Sandwich deals favor loyalty members
A pattern runs through nearly every offer on the list: the sharpest prices go to people who have downloaded an app or joined a rewards program. Holidays like this one give chains a reason to grow their digital customer base, and the discounts serve as the hook. For diners, that trade can be worth making, particularly at spots they already visit regularly. Signing up usually takes only a few minutes, and many programs keep the perks coming long after the holiday ends.
The tradeoff is a steady stream of marketing emails and push notifications. Anyone who only wants a single deal can opt out of promotional messages once the order is in.
Read the fine print before ordering
Restrictions vary widely from one chain to the next. Several offers, including those from McAlister’s and Farmer Boys, exclude third-party delivery services, and the Jimmy John’s code cannot be stacked with other discounts. Many deals work only through a chain’s own app or website. Participation and pricing can also differ by location, so confirm the details in the app before making the trip.
