Gomez Opens Up About Motherhood
The anniversary post arrived less than a week after Gomez spoke publicly about the next chapter she hopes to write with Blanco. Appearing onstage at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City, she said she intends to eventually have children and start a family.
The comment carried extra weight given what she has previously shared about her health. Two years ago, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez disclosed for the first time that she is unable to carry her own children. She explained that several medical issues would put both her life and a baby’s life at risk, a reality she said she needed time to grieve.
A Different Road to Parenthood
Even then, Gomez made clear that the news had not dimmed her desire to become a mother. She acknowledged that her journey would not unfold the way she once pictured, or the way it seems to happen for so many others, but said she had reached a far healthier place with it.
She described feeling grateful for the people who make surrogacy and adoption possible, calling both options very real paths for her future. Gomez also spoke with empathy about others who long to be parents, counting herself among them, and said she was excited to discover what her own version of that journey will look like.
Perhaps most striking was her conviction about what family truly means. Whether a child arrives through surrogacy or adoption, Gomez said, the baby will be hers without question, and the route simply does not matter to her.
Trading Encino for Beverly Hills
Beyond family planning, Gomez has also been busy reshaping her real estate portfolio. Earlier this month, she closed the sale of her Encino, California, mansion for $5.4 million.
The six-bedroom, 10-bathroom residence spans 11,500 square feet. She first listed it in May with an asking price of $6.49 million before eventually reaching a deal below that figure. Gomez originally bought the property in 2020 for $4.89 million, meaning she still sold it for more than she paid.
The sale comes two years after she purchased a $35 million Beverly Hills mansion, which she now calls home with Blanco.
One year in, the couple appear to be settling into a life that balances glamour with quiet devotion. And if Gomez’s recent remarks are any indication, some of their most meaningful chapters may still lie ahead.
