Giambattista Valli Guest Designs for Macy’s Collection

Macy’s is adding a new addition to the chain created by high-end guest designer Giambattista Valli. Stars like Zoe Saldana, Rihanna, Kerry Washington, and Victoria Beckham have all been spotted in statement Giambattista Valli dresses.

Valli is known for extravagantly priced and over-the-top evening wear, most recently shown at Paris Couture Week, and a name that lives up to its chichi billing. Sold at luxury retailers like Bergdorf Goodman and on posh online websites, a Valli piece can range from $1,200 to $6,000. So it’s refreshing and a relief to most bank accounts that Valli is collaborating with Macy’s for a first-ever lower price collection.

“It’s no coincidence that Valli was chosen to design the collection leading into holiday; his creations feature exaggerated layers of tulle, feather-covered garments, enormous bows and wild mixes of animal prints. Valli’s collection for Macy’s touches on all the same themes, including feminine fabrics, bold prints and riotous color, lace, tweed, brocade, fake fur and point d’esprit tulle,” reported the fashion bible, Women’s Wear Daily.

The collection will include cocktail dresses, skirts, tops, jackets, “edgy” pants, and graphic tees, ranging from $50 to $150, and will hit stores Oct. 26.
