Labor Day Weekend just got a serious upgrade for the diaspora
Northwest Stadium is about to become the epicenter of Black culture, sound, and celebration. Afro Plus Fest, billed as North America’s largest Afro-Caribbean-Hip-Hop festival, is set to take over the venue’s Lots E and F from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6, delivering three days of music, food, and community that stretch far beyond a typical concert weekend.
A Lineup Built On Afrobeats And Beyond
This year’s roster reads like a diaspora dream team. Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Sarkodie, and Olamide anchor the Afrobeats presence, while Alkaline, Spice, and Dexta Daps bring the Dancehall energy that keeps Caribbean culture front and center. Hip-hop heavyweights Lil Baby, Latto, and Chief Keef round out the bill, and Amapiano stars DBN Gogo, TXC, Kelvin Momo, and Tyler ICU add another layer of rhythm to a festival already overflowing with global sound. It’s less a lineup and more a cultural mixtape, curated across multiple stages so no two sets feel the same.

More Than Music: The Full Cultural Experience
Organizers have made clear this isn’t just about who’s performing. Afro Plus Fest is leaning into a full sensory takeover, blending nightlife energy with daytime discovery. Attendees can expect:
- Multiple stages with nonstop music and DJ sets
- More than 80 food vendors representing global cuisine
- Over 40 merchandise and cultural vendors
- VIP and Platinum hospitality experiences
- Interactive activations and photo moments
- Dedicated Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, and Dancehall experiences
- Brand activations, lounges, and creator spaces
For a festival built around diaspora identity, that mix of flavor, fashion, and community space matters as much as the headliners.
Know Before You Go
Timing is everything for a festival this size, so mark your calendar accordingly. Gates open Friday, September 4, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., stretch a little later Saturday, September 5, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., and wrap Sunday, September 6, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Will call and box office access opens earlier in the week, with organizers strongly recommending early wristband pickup to avoid weekend lines. Wednesday and Thursday hours run 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., while Friday through Sunday box office hours shift slightly to accommodate daily gates.
Travel logistics are also covered, with an official hotel partner offering discounted stays nearby and dedicated parking available for purchase in advance, both accessible through links on the event’s ticketing page.
Why This Weekend Hits Different
What sets Afro Plus Fest apart isn’t just scale, it’s intention. The festival positions itself as a gathering point for the diaspora, a place where Afrobeats, Dancehall, Amapiano, and Hip-Hop don’t compete for space but coexist naturally, the way they already do in playlists, block parties, and family cookouts across the culture. Add in the food, the fashion, the brand activations, and the sheer density of talent on one bill, and it’s easy to see why this has become a Labor Day Weekend fixture rather than just another festival stop.
For anyone who’s been chasing that perfect blend of sound and culture, this is the weekend that delivers it in one place.
