Simone Biles cried on camera because she was saying goodbye to the Spring, Texas, house that held six years of her life with husband Jonathan Owens. The Olympic champion shared the moment in a TikTok posted Oct. 20, after the home sold within days of hitting the market.
The reason she sold it is simple. Biles told a fan in her comments that she and Owens finished building their dream home, a custom lakeside property also in Spring. The old house closed Oct. 15 for between $1.08 million and $1.24 million, according to Houston Association of Realtors listing data.
Why did Simone Biles get so emotional about a house?
In the video, Biles wiped away tears, cursed at herself for crying and walked through rooms that were already bare. She said the house gave her good memories and hard ones, and that living there turned her into a grown woman. She admitted she never saw the emotion coming. Before signing off, she wished the next owners the same joy she found inside those walls.
Most coverage stops there. Look at the calendar, though, and the tears make perfect sense.
What did that house carry Simone Biles through?
The couple moved in during 2020, the same year they met on Raya. Since then, Owens has worn four NFL uniforms. He played for the Houston Texans from 2019 through 2022, the Green Bay Packers in 2023 and the Chicago Bears across 2024 and 2025 before landing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2026.
Every season brought a new city. The Spring house stayed put. It was the address waiting when the schedule ended, and it was home base while Biles rebuilt her Olympic story after Tokyo and returned to win gold in Paris in 2024.
Chicago did not offer that same peace. In a TikTok, Biles said three masked men broke into the couple’s place during their final months in Chicago and drove off with her Porsche GTS. She joked that her life was starting to feel like it needed its own reality show.
How fast did Simone Biles’ home sell?
Faster than she planned. The house listed at $1.275 million in September and went under contract Sept. 26, according to the Houston Business Journal. Biles wrote that it sold in four days. She had been excited to set out air fresheners for showings and give Owens one final look around. The buyers moved quicker than her to-do list.
The property offers nearly 4,000 square feet, four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms on just over an acre. Buyers get a heated pool, a sauna, a wine wall with its own fridge, a hidden pantry and a dog washing station that fits a couple famous for loving their pups.
Where are Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens living now?
Their anchor is the new lakeside home in Spring, finished in November 2025 after nearly three years of construction and about five years of planning. Biles once vented online that she could not deal anymore with the delays. The finished place includes two kitchen islands, a sports court, a trampoline built into the ground and a room just for the dogs.
Football season still pulls them north. When Owens signed with the Colts in March, Biles reposted the news on her Instagram Stories and brushed off any Friday the 13th superstition. She later posted an on-field kiss with Owens before the Colts opener against the Baltimore Ravens, wearing a custom blue dress with his name on the side.
Why does this goodbye hit so many fans?
Biles spent part of her early childhood in foster care before her grandparents Ron and Nellie Biles adopted her. For someone whose first years lacked stability, a house that held steady through four team changes means more than square footage.
For plenty of Black families, a house has never been just an asset. It is proof of stability that earlier generations fought hard to secure. Biles grew up understanding that. So when the GOAT broke down in an empty kitchen, she was not crying over drywall. She was closing the chapter that kept her grounded while everything else kept moving.
