Not every love story begins the way you plan it. For LaVon Lewis, a branding agency CEO, the road to his April 11 wedding in New Orleans wound through a Peacock reality series, a conference flyer, and a late-night phone call that stretched until sunrise.
Lewis had previously appeared on The Queen’s Court, a Peacock reality series where he became engaged to former Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada. That relationship did not last, but the experience did not dim his hope of finding the right person. What ultimately set a new path in motion was something far simpler, a photograph.
While looking over a conference flyer, Lewis spotted Daedrea Fenwick, an Atlanta based personal injury attorney, and felt an immediate pull he could not explain. Months passed before their worlds formally intersected, but the spark that started with a single image never faded. After coming across a video of Fenwick vacationing in the Bahamas, Lewis realized the two had been following each other on social media for years without ever reaching out. He sent a message, and a conversation that would change both of their lives began.
A connection that moved quickly and naturally
Their first real exchange online turned into an extended phone call that carried well past midnight, and from that point forward, the relationship moved with a clarity neither had anticipated. After Fenwick returned to Atlanta, the two met in person, and within the first week alone they had seen each other five times. There was no hesitation, no second guessing. For both Lewis and Fenwick, the ease of it all was the signal they had been waiting for.
Lewis described the feeling as one of arrival rather than pursuit, a sense that the person standing before him was someone he had always been moving toward. Fenwick, for her part, spoke of trust and deep friendship as the foundation they were building on. With values aligned and affection mutual, they moved forward together with intention.
New Orleans set the perfect stage
When it came time to plan their wedding, Lewis and Fenwick chose New Orleans deliberately. They wanted a destination that felt festive and immersive without being too far for loved ones to travel. The city delivered on every front, offering a backdrop of vibrant culture, celebrated cuisine, and an unmistakable energy that suited the couple’s personalities.
Festivities kicked off with a welcome party at Vue Orleans, a venue offering sweeping aerial views of the city. Guests were treated to an evening that moved fluidly through different levels of the space, each with its own distinct ambiance. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and very much in keeping with the couple who had brought everyone together.

Rooftop vows above the Mississippi River
The ceremony itself took place at The MISI, where the rooftop setting framed downtown New Orleans and the Mississippi River in the background. As Fenwick walked toward him, Lewis was visibly overcome with emotion. The moment their eyes met was one both described as feeling suspended in time, an instant where everything else around them dissolved.
A highlight of the reception that caught guests off guard was a surprise performance by Tamika Scott of Xscape, one of Fenwick’s all-time favorite groups. The moment was planned carefully by Lewis and orchestrated in secret, and watching his new wife’s reaction made all of the coordination worthwhile. Fenwick also brought her own creative touch to the celebration by designing a custom game called Kulture Karaoke, which was woven into the festivities and had guests fully engaged throughout the night.
Building a life rooted in safety and friendship
As the celebrations gave way to the quieter reality of married life, both Lewis and Fenwick expressed a sense of calm excitement about what comes next. Lewis spoke about the value of feeling genuinely safe with another person, the kind of emotional security that allows someone to simply be themselves without performance or pretense. He found that in Fenwick from their very first conversation.
Fenwick looked ahead to the everyday texture of life with a partner she respects and genuinely likes, the kind of relationship where the extraordinary is built out of ordinary moments shared with the right person. For both of them, the wedding in New Orleans was not just a celebration of where they had arrived, but a confident declaration of where they are headed together.
