La La Anthony is open to dating again, and she is being upfront about what makes it tricky. On the Oct. 20 episode of The Crew Has It podcast, the actress told her former Power universe costars Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo that dating another celebrity can be easier because they understand 16 hour shoots and call times at 2 or 3 a.m. Still, she said she would date a man with a regular job if the connection is real.
Two days later on The Jennifer Hudson Show, she gave this chapter a name. She called it her ‘season of being open.’
Why does La La Anthony think dating celebrities is easier?
It comes down to the calendar. Anthony explained that a partner outside the industry may not understand why she works through the night or spends long hours with costars. Someone in the business already gets it, so there is less to explain.
She also pushed back on the idea that wealthy stars only date each other for money. In her view, people date inside the rooms they already move in. She compared it to doctors meeting other medical professionals at work. Proximity, not paychecks.
La La Anthony talks about the issue of dating in the industry. She says it’s better off for celebrities to date each other than a normal person, because a normal person will find it hard to understand the kinds of things their partners are expected to do on set

It’s just to read lines”😭— Page (@pages_xq) October 20, 2026
Would La La Anthony date a man with a regular job?
Yes, and she did not hesitate. Anthony said a man with an ordinary job who treats her well and loves her family could be a great match. Her list centers on faith, family, shared interests and a strong bond with her son, Kiyan. On Hudson’s show, she added that she wants a confident man who brings good conversation and is always up for a new experience.
The bottom line for her is the vibe. A man can have everything on paper and still miss if the chemistry is not there.
What changed in La La Anthony’s dating life?
The house got quieter. Kiyan now plays basketball at Syracuse, and Anthony used her Hudson appearance to swap tips on life as an empty nester.
That detail matters more than it seems. Back in 2022, Anthony told Hudson that a teenage Kiyan was protective and did not like the idea of her dating at all. Four years later, her son is building his own life on a college campus, and his mom is talking openly about what she wants in a partner. The timing tracks.
Her ex is moving forward too. Carmelo Anthony went public with Racquel Smith in June.
For a Black woman approaching 50 in the public eye, dating out loud invites commentary from every direction. Anthony is answering it the grown way. She is not chasing status, and she is not closing doors.
What else is La La Anthony working on?
Her career is busy. Anthony reunited with longtime friend Kim Kardashian on a new Hulu comedy from Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver after the streamer passed on their earlier project, Group Chat. Anthony is set to play a crisis manager for pro athletes whose own marriage unravels after her husband’s scandal, leaning on her closest friends to get through it.
For fans who followed her real life split, that premise may hit a little close to home.
